Technology is an integral part of our modern society. That is why we must incorporate technology as much as we can in our everyday lives inside and outside of school. Students are already familiar with computers, phones, iPods, tablets, and video games; they play with these tools several hours every day. Students are engaged and entertained by these sources of technology—therefore, in order to keep students motivated, we must use these sources in our classrooms. This site serves as a means of cultivating the integration of technology in the classroom. This site is meant to encourage students to communicate and collaborate with their peers about topics addressed in school.
Through these blog conversations, students will be able to establish themselves as mathematicians and experts where they can expand their online presence, they can help others who may be struggling with a math topic, share their thoughts, provide frequent feedback to their peers, and most importantly they will learn from one another.
Each week, I will be posting a question on this site for students to answer. Student responses will be graded as per the rubric below. Students are expected to elaborate on their responses (at least 5-7 sentences), incorporate mathematical terminology learned in class, and edit their responses for spelling, punctuation, and grammar. Students will be required to respond to the weekly blog by 2:30 pm on Friday of each week, and respond to at least one of their peer's posts in a polite manner, using proper internet etiquette.
